About United Sports Association
Quick answer: United Sports Association is a Florida non profit built to get people in St. Petersburg moving, competing, and connected through community events, athlete support programs, and destination races like the St. Pete Marathon. Every event we run exists to bring the community together and fund the work we do year round.
Our Mission
United Sports Association exists to improve lives through sports, especially running. We believe a world where everyone can access and benefit from an athletic lifestyle, regardless of pace, experience, or background, is a healthier and more connected world. We pursue that mission through free community events, coach led training programs, and flagship races that bring people together while funding the programs that keep running year round.
What We Do
Community Events
Our free, low key fun runs are open to everyone, no registration and no clock. Events like our New Year’s Eve 5K and July 4th Fireworks 5K bring neighbors together to celebrate on foot, side by side, regardless of pace or experience.
Athlete Support Programs
The St. Pete Run Club is our official coach led training program, offering real coaching and a real community for runners of every level, from first time finishers to Boston Qualifier hopefuls.
Flagship Races
Destination events like the St. Pete Marathon fund our mission and put Florida’s running community on the map, drawing runners from across the state and country to St. Petersburg.
Bringing People Together
We believe sports have a unique power to unite people. Through events like the St. Pete Marathon, we bring together local neighbors and participants traveling from across the country, first time runners, dedicated volunteers, and lifelong supporters alike. Every gift, every volunteer hour, and every sponsorship helps us grow that community and reach more people who could benefit from an athletic lifestyle.
Leadership
Scott Fishman chairs the Board of United Sports Association and serves as Executive Director of the St. Pete Marathon. He brings two decades of experience coaching athletes and building performance systems to the organization’s mission and events.
