New Year’s Eve Fireworks Run 5K

On January 1, 2026, United Sports Association led our first New Year’s Eve Fireworks Run — a free, low-key 5K through downtown St. Petersburg to kick off the new year on foot.

The Route

We started at North Shore Park and ran through the heart of downtown St. Pete, past the Pier and along the waterfront — a course chosen specifically so the run would land right in the middle of the city’s New Year’s celebration instead of somewhere on the outskirts of it.

Timed for the Fireworks

We timed the run so the group was moving through the biggest crowds right as the fireworks went off overhead. Runners and walkers found themselves surrounded by cheering spectators lining the route, with the sky lighting up above downtown — turning a simple fun run into something a lot more memorable than a typical training loop.

A Fun Run, Not a Race

There was no clock, no bibs, and no registration required. Runners and walkers of every pace showed up simply to move together as neighbors, ring in the new year, and soak in the energy of the crowd. The cheering and community vibes along the Pier were the whole point — this wasn’t about finish times, it was about starting the year together.

Part of a Bigger Mission

Community runs like this one are part of how United Sports Association brings people together year-round, alongside our coach-led St. Pete Run Club training program and our flagship St. Pete Marathon. Every gathering like this helps build the healthier, more connected community that’s at the center of our mission.
